Why KIDGLOVE matters now
Children are growing up in a world where digital life expands quickly and often outpaces guidance, safeguards and emotional support. Cyber risks now include exposure, coercion, bullying, manipulation, addiction, exploitation and silent distress.
The response cannot remain limited to one-time awareness lectures. It must become a living ecosystem of safety, support, leadership and intervention.
FROM 2015 TO A NEW ERA
From early awareness to a digital-safety movement
KidGlove began in 2015 as a child-focused cyber safety initiative of Kerala Police. It created early awareness around online risks and digital responsibility. Over time, the digital ecosystem changed dramatically.
The scale of children’s online exposure increased, the nature of harms became more layered, and the need for institutional support became more urgent. This led to a reimagining of the mission: from awareness-driven outreach to a structured, scalable, multi-stakeholder safety architecture.

It links schools, students, teachers, counsellors, cyber police, volunteers and partner institutions into one coordinated child cyber-safety network.
Its purpose is not only to inform children, but to surround them with trusted systems that can listen, guide, respond and lead.

Kid Glove is designed as a layered model. It combines awareness, peer leadership, counselling support, institutional capacity, and event-based mobilization into one connected system. It is not linear. It is cyclical and reinforcing.

Kid Glove is being positioned as a scalable child cyber safety ecosystem across Kerala, bringing together schools, educators, counsellors, law enforcement agencies, and community partners to create a sustainable and collaborative support network.
But scale is not only numerical. It is also structural. The framework introduces student leadership through Cyber Captains, builds response sensitivity through the concept of mental health first responders for cyber issues, and nurtures a child safety culture that can grow inside institutions.
